Today, data governance in universities, especially universities that organize online learning, is very important, considering that data is the main driver of the implementation of all online learning activities, and its quality is at stake. Good data quality requires effective data management. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is here to offer a new way of processing data more efficiently, generating valuable information with high quality such as personalizing learning, automating repetitive administrative tasks and providing valuable insights to improve the quality of learning. Through a literature study approach, this study was conducted to explore the extent to which AI can be used in universities that provide online learning as well as the main principles needed so that data management that integrates AI in online learning higher education can be carried out properly. © 2024 IEEE.
