Vehicle technology is progressing at a rapid pace, particularly in the area of diesel trains. It will be easier to create technology in the next diesel train vehicle by modelling and simulating a hybrid sources light railway vehicle. In this paper, modelling and simulation of a hybrid sources light railway vehicle that include, battery, diesel engine, generator and induction machine drive are presented. The method used to design the drive system of the hybrid source light railway based on the equations of each component used such as a diesel engine, generator, battery, and induction motor. The result of a 50 seconds simulation, Power is continuously transferred from the engine to the DC network by the generator. The motor accelerates the railway using battery power, then employs regenerative braking to send the energy back to the battery. Additionally, the light railway's speed complies with the desired speed or the speed determined by the simulation. The battery produces 4.3 kW of power, which is less than the motor's 5.8 kW maximum output when the light railway accelerates. The simulation shows the performance of a hybrid sources light rail vehicle with various component configurations and produced acceptable results. The simulation result will be discussed and further developed. © 2023 Author(s).
