This paper focuses on creating a macroscopic traffic flow model that describes crucial traffic dynamics: density, traffic flow, and average speed. Changes in traffic flow dynamics are captured through a simplified macroscopic traffic flow model with a triangular shape, which allows the system to respond quickly to developments in real-world conditions. The triangular shape model is called the Triangular Fundamental Diagram (TFD), which represent substantial traffic condition namely free-flow, equilibrium flow, and congested flow conditions. This research employs Hybrid Petri Net (HPN) Continue and the SimHPN simulator to develop the TFD model. Subsequently, the TFD-HPN Continue model is applied to a case study involving traffic on the Pasteur highway. The paper successfully introduces a macroscopic traffic flow model, TFD, and pairs it with the HPN Continue approach to simulation. The simulation results showed that the differences between the TFD-HPN Continue model and the MFD model are as follows: Kcrit by 1.87%, qmax by 0.74%, and Kjam by 0.12%. In summary, the TFD-HPN Continue model demonstrates its ability to resemble real-world traffic dynamics through its application to the Pasteur highway case. ©2025 The author(s).
