Abstrak
Mercury is a heavy metal that can act as a contaminant that can be highly toxic. Exposure to mercury can pose a risk of central nervous system issues, memory loss, tremors, convulsions, sleeplessness, irritability, excessive fear, brain damage, paralysis, psychosis, and decreased self-confidence. Therefore, it is critical to provide trustworthy analytical methods for mercury detection in order to monitor the level of mercury. The purpose of this review is to offer critical perspectives on analytical techniques that can be used to determine mercury levels in environmental and biological samples. This current review focuses on the latest analytical methods that have been used for mercury determination in recent years. This review reveals that atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS), liquid chromatography (LC), and inductively coupled plasma (ICP) are still routinely used to detect mercury levels. Spectrophotometric, immunoassay, electrochemical, and colorimetric testing methods are still being developed. Copyright Saputri FA et al.
