Abstrak
South Tangerang city is one of the largest cities in Indonesia, located directly adjacent to the capital city of Jakarta. The increase in population and rapid development causes the air temperature in this city to continue to rise. This temperature rise causes this city to experience the Urban Heat Island (UHI) phenomenon. This study aims to determine the spatial and temporal pattern of the UHI affected areas in South Tangerang City and its relationship to vegetation density and building density. The distribution of UHI affected areas, vegetation density, and building density were obtained from processing Landsat 5 TM and Landsat 8 OLI imagery with data acquisition in 1998, 2008, and 2018. Spatial-Temporal dan statistical descriptive analysis was used by overlaying and statistically comparing these three data using ArcGIS 10.2.2 and Microsoft Excel 2016. The results showed fluctuations in UHI occurrence and the tendency to be spotted at low vegetation density and high building density. This UHI is due to the rapid development of South Tangerang City, which is indicated by the increasing density of buildings and the decreasing density of vegetation which causes high LST, followed by the occurrence of UHI in several areas. © 2022 Author(s).
