Introduction: Social stigma causes a decrease in the quality of life of people with leprosy in Indonesia. Research on social stigma in people with leprosy still varies in terms of population, data collection methods and analysis. Objective: To comprehensively review and synthesize existing research related to social stigma and quality of life experienced by people with leprosy. Method: This research uses a literature review method and is guided by PRISMA in selecting articles. Article searches were carried out through the Google Scholar database using the keywords social stigma, mental health, quality of life, and leprosy patients in Indonesia. Articles were selected based on the inclusion criteria of publication year 1 January 2022-31 May 2023, cross-sectional research type, case report, case series, cohort, and qualitative approach; the languages used are Indonesian and English, as well as open access, free, full text journals, and all studies. Selected articles are then reviewed narratively based on predetermined themes. Result: From the 11 articles reviewed, various stigmas were found attached to people with leprosy, including social rejection, exclusion, and discrimination. Stigma in people with leprosy is also known to exist in their mental health, such as depression, anxiety, and anger. Stigma also reduces the quality of life of people with leprosy in terms of work, marriage, and social participation. Conclusion: This literature review found social stigma towards people with leprosy in Indonesia its association with mental health issues as well as its negative impact towards their quality of life. Educating the people about leprosy and mental health counseling for people with leprosy are recommended. © 2023, Muhammadiyah Palu University. All rights reserved.
