Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are vital to economic growth, yet they face challenges in productivity and efficiency, particularly in the food production sector. This study aims to design an assistive mixing machine tool tailored to the needs of SMEs in Bandung, Indonesia, using a user experience (UX) and participatory design (PD) approach. We identified critical user needs and preferences by involving SME actors in the design process through interviews, observations, and workshops. The research findings demonstrate that a design centered on user experience, combined with a participatory design approach, significantly enhances the mixing machine's ease of use, ergonomic features, and overall productivity. These results underscore the importance of incorporating user feedback into the development of technological solutions tailored to the specific needs of SMEs, thereby enhancing their competitive edge in the market. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).
