Pontianak City has seen rapid urbanization in recent years, characterized by a significant rise in population density and the construction of infrastructure. Nevertheless, this progress also concurrently amplifies the risk of fire hazards, particularly in residential regions. Pontianak City consistently experiences fire disasters every year, resulting in it having the greatest number of fire occurrences among all cities in West Kalimantan Province. This study aims to assess the degree of urban resilience based on three categories of resilience: physical, social, and economic. This research uses quantitative approaches that include spatial analysis using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). It integrates the outcomes of the three elements of resilience to create a city resilience map specifically focused on residential fire disasters. The assessment of urban resilience is subsequently verified by observational evidence and the identification of areas of intense activity in order to establish a connection between data and actual events. The study underscores the imperative for government-business collaboration in fire management and the strategic deployment of resources informed by geospatial analysis to mitigate risks and enhance citywide resilience, thereby guiding stakeholders in improving fire disaster preparedness and response. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
