Abstrak
Suriname cherry (Eugenia uniflora L.) is believed to have anti-aging properties due to its main constituents, myristicin and quercetin. This study examines the anti-tyrosinase and antioxidant properties of the seed of unripe fruit extract of Suriname Cherry. The extraction process used an ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) method with 70% ethanol. Total phenolic and flavonoid contents were measured. Antioxidants including 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP), 2, 2′-azinobis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS) and anti-tyrosinase activities were evaluated for the bioactivities. The antioxidant activities of E. uniflora seed extract had substantial IC50 values for DPPH 5.75 μg/mL, then FRAP values were 5197.7 μM/g. In conclusion, the Suriname Cherry seed extract has anti-tyrosinase and antioxidant properties. Furthermore, the ethanolic seed extract had anti-tyrosinase and antioxidant characteristics, suggested that the Suriname cherry plant could be a promising anti-aging agent. © 2024 The Authors.
