Abstrak
Increasing numbers of Low Birth Weight (LBW) cases at Depok Regional Hospital demonstrate the need for more effective intervention. This study aimed to assess the knowledge of Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) among health workers and its implementation. The study used a survey to measure the difference in the knowledge before and after KMC training. A qualitative research was also conducted to assess its implementation. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and Focus Group Discussions. The health workers’ knowledge scores increased between pretest and posttest. Although not formally trained in KMC the in-patient staff had a relatively good knowledge. However, the management and health workers in the outpatient unit did not. There are many challenges to improve the implementation of the KMC program. © 2020
