Abstrak
Background: Chronic kidney disease is one of the leading causes of mortality in the 21st century. Hemodialysis is a life-saving treatment for patients with end-stage renal disease; however, the procedure can cause pain, discomfort, anxiety, and depression, ultimately leading to a lower quality of life.Purpose: To examine the effects of virtual reality on anxiety, depression, and pain in patients undergoing hemodialysis.Method: Systematic review with randomized controlled trial (RCT) design. Articles were searched using 5 databases, namely Pubmed, Sage Journal, Springerlink, Proquest, and ScienceDirect published from January 2014 to December 2024.Results: Shows that there are 6 articles that meet the criteria and most of the studies reported that virtual reality interventions are effective in reducing levels of anxiety, depression, and pain in patients undergoing hemodialysis. Conclusion: Virtual reality interventions can be considered as adjunctive or alternative therapy to reduce anxiety, depression, and pain in patients undergoing hemodialysis.
