Latex, or natural rubber (NR), is a common material used as the base of elastomer product. Prior further processing, modification of NR is necessary to enhance its mechanical properties, which can be achieved by grafting material like starch. Plasma electrolysis method is used to combine both materials into molecular level, despite their high difference in polarity. This study aims to optimize product synthesis by varying the distance, depth, and type of electrode. It is observed that deeper anode position tended to decrease product yield and increase specific energy consumption. It is also inferred that specific energy consumption for system with higher distance between electrode is more efficient as hydrostatic force from anode depth dominated less to the process. Lastly, the combination of electrode materials is varied to seek the most suitable electrodes for the system. The optimum condition is obtained on the variation of 7 cm distance between electrode, 2 cm anode depth, and tungsten-stainless steel electrode. © 2023 Author(s).
